Ron Billingslea who was the team coach for some time was from USA.

June 15th, 2009The Kongsbergs Penguins were a team of basketball players from Kongsberg in Norway, 45 minutes south-west of Oslo, have been in the finals several times. In 2004/05, The Penguins were close to go bankrupt, but a great effort on Kongsberg made it possible to continue with a renewed license
The basket ball team was called Kongsteby Berkameratene prior to 2000 and the name was changed to Kongsberg Penguins in 2000.
The team has reached the Semifinals of the Norweigan basketball championship at least thrice in 2001, 2004, 2006.
Most of the players were from their junior team, though some players were from other teams.
Kongsberg Penguins team participated in the European regional championship in 2002-2003.
